Travellers rarely settle quickly on where to stay. When guests search hotels on an OTA, 89% go on to check another travel site, visiting 277 web pages on average in the 45 days before they book. For multi-property groups, turning that comparison-heavy window into direct revenue takes more than a competitive rate; it takes the right message reaching the right guest at the right moment in the booking journey.
In this case study, we look at how we partnered with Alpin Family to combine Convert and Booking Engine, turning a 30-day seasonal campaign into direct, chain-wide revenue.
About Alpin Family
Alpin Family is a portfolio of 17 independent alpine resorts and hotels that spans several Austrian federal states, including Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg and Upper Austria. A popular European vacation spot, Austria is one of the Alps' great four-season destinations, known for lake life and hiking in summer and world-class skiing in winter.
With a portfolio that ranges from characterful, family-run guesthouses to design-led resorts, Alpin Family gives guests a genuinely local alternative to big-chain alpine tourism, with the kind of personal service and mountain-village charm that keeps travellers coming back season after season.
The group has run multiple products from Hotelchamp's direct-booking suite (Booking Engine, Metasearch and Convert) across the portfolio since going live in June 2025, with a clear goal: build a direct channel strong enough to compete confidently with OTAs, chain-wide.
Goal
Peak alpine summer is Alpin Family's biggest opportunity of the year, and its most competitive. Guests are comparing offers hardest, and OTAs are fighting hardest for their attention. The goal: run a chain-wide personalised campaign that could convert that seasonal interest into direct bookings, using Convert's on-site personalisation and Booking Engine's fast checkout together, rather than either product working in isolation.
Solution
We worked with Alpin Family to launch CoolSummer 2026, a 30-day, chain-wide campaign pairing Convert's personalised on-site messaging with Booking Engine's fast, mobile-friendly checkout. Convert surfaced seasonal offers and urgency messaging tailored to where each guest was in the journey, while Booking Engine ensured interest converted quickly, without guests bouncing off to compare rates elsewhere. The campaign ran on top of the chain's existing full-suite setup, so personalisation and checkout worked as one continuous flow rather than two separate systems.

Results
The CoolSummer 2026 campaign became Alpin Family's best-performing campaign to date, and the numbers show why.
- Revenue tripled compared to their Spring 2026 campaign: the CoolSummer 2026 campaign generated roughly 3x the revenue of the chain's previous best-performing campaign
- Over 4% of campaign interactions converted into a booking: Nearly 12,000 personalised interactions drove close to 500 confirmed bookings chain-wide, a strong sign the offers reaching guests were relevant, not just frequent.
- Chain-wide Booking Engine conversion rate nearly doubled during the campaign, with April and May being the strongest months of the past year. This coincided with CoolSummer 2026's launch and run.
The scale of the lift suggests the combination mattered as much as either product alone: Convert's messaging captured attention at the right moment, and Booking Engine's checkout kept that intent from leaking away to OTAs. The campaign also sits on top of a strong existing partnership, having generated over €5.5M in direct revenue chain-wide through the Hotelchamp Booking Engine since the launch. So CoolSummer 2026 reads less as a one-off spike and more as proof of what the full suite can do when it's activated with intent.
"Individually, the tools are good. Together, they changed our direct business. COOLSUMMER was the proof." — Benedikt Roos, Commercial Director, Alpin Family
