Meet Lena, Sales Manager of the German market
In this Champ spotlight we will introduce you to Lena Derenbach, Sales manager of the German team! With experience in the online travel industry she is now leading the German market and doing demos like crazy! Read more about her Hotelchamp experience.
How long have you been working at Hotelchamp?
I have started last October, so I have been here for 9 months already.
How did you end up at Hotelchamp?
Our recruiter Eva contacted me already early on, in the spring of 2016, but at that time I wasn’t looking for another job. I did think that the job was very interesting and by August or September I saw the vacancy again so I contacted Eva if the position was still available, and here I am!
What does your average day look like?
On a daily basis I try to be in contact with hotels as much as possible to find out their challenges, priorities and how we can support them in solving those problems such as increasing their direct bookings. I also give demos to hotels and chains that are interested in our product. In these demos I explain our product and give them more insight into our mission. Then I follow up and see whether and when they would like to start. Another fun thing I get to do is going to events. The hotel industry has many interesting and fun events and I love to go there to meet our (potential) customers in person.
How would you describe Hotelchamp as a company?
I would say young, dynamic and committed.
What has been your favorite moment at Hotelchamp?
My favorite moment is the Christmas party! Before the party we went to an exit room. In this game you have to find a way to get out of the room within an hour. I was in a super group and we were out within 30 minutes! By coincidence I was in a team with all the management (all guys) so it was fun to work with them in a different way than we do in the office.
What does it take to be a Champ?
It definitely takes energy. Not only in terms of bringing energy but also getting it in return. Flexibility, since our company and position in the market develop rapidly things can change from week to week. Either we get new colleagues, new software to work with or a new office. You also have to be open minded and willing to accept a challenge. We all work hard and with a positive attitude.
What was the first impression when you entered our office?
My first impression was of the old office, which I liked a lot. It was small and you can easily get to know all your colleagues.
Which day of the week do you like the most at Hotelchamp and why?
Definitely not meeting mondays haha! I think Thursdays, since during the day I do my regular tasks but at the end of the day we do call coaching with the German team. We listen to each others calls to give each other feedback. I think this really improves our team and it is also fun to do and be more involved in each others work.
How would you describe your colleagues?
Young, international, energetic, nice and friendly and smart!
