Meet Claire, Communications & PR Manager
This time we are going to introduce you to an entirely different department, namely: communications! Claire Beheyt is our Communications & PR Manager and is the leading drive behind our communications team. With a double degree in International business and management, she gained experience in a broad field with a focus on communications and PR. Read more about her experience here at Hotelchamp.
How did you end up at Hotelchamp?
“1,5 Years ago I was looking for a graduation internship where I could write my thesis and gain some hands-on experience. I wanted to write my thesis about the field of communications in start-ups and that’s how I found Hotelchamp. I’ve never worked in a start-up before so I was really excited about this new challenge.”
How would you describe your normal day?
“I have many different ongoing responsibilities: events, PR, social media, content writing and corporate branding. This means that every day I keep track of these fields, in combination with some extra projects that are running. For example, last week I was working on the launch of our new direct booking platform, which means reaching the media, sending announcements to our stakeholders, preparing marketing materials etc… Next week, I will work on events to prepare our next season and I will also be working closely with our PR agencies to write our next press release. It is a bit of everything and that is why I really like it.”
“I would describe Hotelchamp as challenging, innovative and exciting.”
What has been your favourite moment at HC?
“The boat party we had last August! It was the first time that the company did something together as a first official event. We did a boat tour around Amsterdam and I love the city so it was already on my to-do list for a while. I really liked the party because it was the first time we shared a moment out of work and I got to know my colleagues better. It also had a startup vibe; young and dynamic, which was really nice.”
What does it take to be a Champ?
“You have to be self-driven, be able to take decisions and be able to adapt. You shouldn’t be afraid to take initiative and flexibility is very important, as in every startup, because you have to adapt to every change and there are a lot on a short term. So I would say: adaptability, flexibility, self-drivenness and taking initiative.”
What was the biggest challenge during your career at HC?
“Putting all the strategies in place for the communications team was pretty challenging. Especially since the scale is always higher and our strategies need constant updates. When I first started, I had to organise just one event, now one year later we have 25 on our checklist. So I would say that the biggest challenge is the really quick growth and to adapt to a higher scale each time.”
What was your first impression when you entered our office?
“I was here already when we were still in the beginning, so in our Amsterdam office we were only a small crew. I remember that we just moved to a new office so it was still very empty but also really exciting. It felt like I was really part of a new beginning, it was not only a new start for me but also for the entire company.”
How would you describe your colleagues in 3 words?
“International, enthusiastic and fun. They are all really good hearted people. Colleagues if you read this, you are the best!”
